"The Comely" - Old European Cut Diamond and 14kt White Gold Ring

SKU: AD005

Old European Cut Diamonds are treasured because “they just don’t make ‘em like this anymore!” Old Euros (also known as OEC) are a European cutting style popular from the 1890 to 1930. The cutting style is very similar to today’s Round Brillant (aka RBC) except the crown, the top part you see immediately, is very tall and the triangle pavilion (bottom pointy part) facets are shorter than a traditional RBC.

So what, right? Well, Old Euros have more of the “Fire” or dispersion, meaning the stone sparkles more colors while the newer Round Brilliants display more “brilliance” or the black versus white sparkle (hence the name Round Brilliant Cut). Old Euros were cut by hand and most modern round brilliants are cut by machines, so if you’re a purist, an Old Euro may be a good choice for you. If you’re a fan of scarcity and rarity, an Old European Diamond may be a great choice as there are very few available on the market and the ones that are on the market are usually chipped or very worn as they’re old diamonds who have lived a long loved life.

This Old European Cut Diamond is gorgeous in this dainty and simple, yet elegant mounting. This is a classic vintage design with small steps up to the center Old Euro. Small milgrain details just add to the loveliness of this vintage inspired ring with 8 small diamonds totaling 0.11cts for a ring that has a total carat weight of 0.53ct.
