What is the difference between green beryl and emerald, which is also green beryl? The main difference is the color saturation. Emeralds are rich true deep greens with a hint of blue usually with eye-visible inclusions. Green Beryl is distinguished by the light green color with a hint of gray and usually lacks eye-visible inclusions. Green beryl's pale color is caused by iron ions replacing beryllium and aluminum ions in the beryl.
