Good grape! This deep purple cushion-cut spinel looks amazing in this 14kt rose gold pendant with black diamond accents. The stone is from Madagascar and this piece is named after the villardin wine grape variety grown in Madagascar. Ironically, spinel has often been incorrectly identified as corundum, so many prized sapphires and rubies were later discovered to be spinel. While synthetic spinel is quite common and inexpensive, beautiful natural spinel like this rich grape color specimen is to be prized!
